Section 3: Bending Self Defense
Water - Water is the element of change. Those who utilize waterbending are often excellent at learning to turn their opponent's offense into their opponent's downfall. The properties of water make this most applicable by adapting to a change of converting their opponent's offense into their own defense, then turning that defense into a form of offense. If this sounds confusing at all, imagine how a wave out at sea flows back and forth, until it crashes onto the shore with tremendous force. The wave will rock back and forth in response to any disruptions until it reaches the shore/attacks with an even greater amount of force which it has built up from turning from a simple ripple into a crashing wave, similar to how a waterbender will often defend their self from harm and then respond with an attack containing more force and than their opponent's original attack, similar to how the wave rocks back and forth until it crashes onto the shore.
Earth - Earth is the element of stability and immovability. Earthbenders when it comes to dangerous altercations often adopt a style of fighting which utilizes not allowing their opponent to pass a certain boundary or come within a certain distance, and will do what they must to prevent this from happening. Similar to how the waterbender often rocks back in defense and then attacks with a great amount of offense similar to a wave at sea, earthbenders are excellent at being rooted to their territory and unmovable from that spot because of their fighting style, similar to a boulder or mountain. To achieve this in response to an attacker, the earthbender will often defend their self and strike with one motion, or will use the force and effort of their defense as their offense. Many people have this notion of earthbenders "watching and listening". The reason for this isn't because earthbenders are excellent listeners/observers/have excellent patience but instead it is because an earthbender needs to know what kind of attack their opponent is using in order to defend against it, which will also transition or function as the earthbender's offense.
Air and Fire shall be added soon, as well as examples of how each element would be used in response to an attack. We'll also show you examples of how you can respond using these different styles with just your physical body! No bending required! So be sure to visit and check the site regularly!
